About the study

The Ennis District Heating Concept Study, led by Tipperary Energy Agency in association with Codema, is a project funded by the EUCF aimed at developing a concept for a district heating network for Ennis and its surrounding areas on behalf of Clare County Council.

The study seeks to develop a concept network and assess the feasibility of a district heating network to deliver low-cost and reliable heat for Ennis while contributing to Ireland’s carbon reduction goals.

Codema’s role in the project

Codema will be serving as the subject matter experts to assist Tipperary Energy Agency in delivering the concept study, including:

  • Heat demand and supply assessments: Analyse the area’s current and projected heat demand and evaluate the suitability of local heat sources, such as waste heat from industrial processes and renewable sources.
  • Concept network for heat delivery: Develop a district heating concept based on the heat demand and availability of local heat sources.
  • Feasibility assessment: Assess the feasibility of developing a district heating network based on the developed concept.

Project aims

Identify optimal heat sources and map demands
Develop a district heating concept
Assess the feasibility of district heating to deliver low-cost, low-carbon heat
