DLR home energy upgrades event
We were delighted to support Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council with its Energy Upgrades at Home and in the Community event on Saturday, 10th October.
About the event
Codema joined a range of trusted energy experts at this event organised by the council. The event gave householders and community groups the chance to get advice on saving energy and money, all under one roof.
The event covered a wide range of topics, including practical no/low-cost energy-saving tips, understanding energy bills and smart meters and completing a full home energy retrofit to reach a high Building Energy Rating (BER). Attendees also heard how to access grants for home energy upgrades, community buildings and solar panels.
Codema presentations
The day’s information sessions were organised around three themes:
- Home Energy Upgrades: Where to Start and Finance Available
- Practical Tips to Saving Energy and Money
- Solar Power at Home and in the Community and Grants for Community Energy Projects
Codema gave two presentations during the second theme, focused on saving energy and money.
- Our Energy Engineer Adam Doyle gave the first presentation focused on low-cost energy-saving tips for the home. It covered simple changes that householders can make straight away to cut their energy use and lower their bills.
- In the second, Codema’s Eoin Ahern shared his own experience of retrofitting his home. He took the audience through the process from start to finish, giving them a first-hand view of what a home energy upgrade involves.
Exhibition area
Codema also had a stand in the exhibition area. The team shared a range of energy-saving information and talked with the many visitors about their questions. They also demonstrated Codema’s Home Energy Saving Kits, which help householders find out where their homes are losing energy and how to fix it. The kits are available to borrow free of charge from all public libraries across Dublin.
Codema exhibited alongside:
- Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and SEAI Sustainable Energy Communities
- Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU)
- SSE Airtricity One-Stop-Shop
- CORE Credit Union
