A big week for District Heating in Ireland!

Last Wednesday, the 30th of September, Codema was delighted to attend and exhibit at the Irish District Energy Association (IrDEA) Annual Conference 2026.

The Conference brought together industry leaders, innovators, policymakers and energy professionals to explore the future of district energy in Ireland.

On the day, our CEO, Donna Gartland, took part in a panel discussion on ‘Aligning Ireland’s Infrastructure – Data Centres, Housing, Enterprise, Public Buildings’. Donna was joined on stage by David McAuley – Founder and CEO, Bitpower; Henrik Dalsgård – VP Market, COWI; Dr. Matt Kennedy – Global Head of Transformation, IDA; and Isidore McCormack – Head of District Heating Network Development, Yuno Energy (Chair).

This came following the big announcement by keynote speaker, Minister Darragh O’Brien TD, that €5 million in Government funding will be made available from the Climate Action Fund to support the pre-construction development costs of nine district heating projects across the country, with up to €200 million in further capital funding available to help build them.

Of the nine successful district heating projects, Codema is involved with supporting four of them; namely, Naas, Blanchardstown, Drogheda and Dundalk.
