The second Decarbonising Dublin Summit was a huge success thanks to you!

The Decarbonising Dublin Summit 2025 was bigger and better that we expected! And that’s all because of your engagement. Check out the event’s highlights and the new data regarding energy use in Dublin below.

We brought together a vibrant mix of people and ideas – from local authorities and Sustainable Energy Communities to private sector innovators, NGOs, academics, and grassroots groups – all gathered to explore how Dublin can move toward a fair, low-carbon future.

Following on from last year’s Dublin 2050 postcards, this year’s conversations continued that spirit of imagination and hope. Attendees reflected on how community co-ops and local initiatives can help us build the kind of energy secure, comfortable communities we all dream of.

Fresh data shared from the Your Voice, Dublin’s Energy Future Survey set the scene, offering a snapshot of how Dubliners are already taking action. The survey revealed that eight in ten residents are turning off heating and appliances to cut energy bills – a powerful sign of how personal choices connect to collective climate goals. The full report is available now here.

Across a day of engaging panels and discussions, participants explored three key themes:

  • Progress and Possibility: Dublin’s 2030 priorities.
  • New Community-Level Action: Grassroots solutions for local impact.
  • Rethinking Dublin: Fair and innovative solutions for a low-carbon future.

Accessibility and inclusion were at the heart of the event, supported by resources like the Know Before You Go guide and a calming Sensory Space – a creative installation by panellist AlanJames Burns.

Networking was equally valued, with the lively Connect4 exercise encouraging attendees to link ideas, projects, and people.

The Connect4 audience exercise helped spark conversations and connections throughout the Summit.

Feedback from the day has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong engagement from across sectors and communities. A full event report, including insights from the audience exercises, will be available in late November or early December.
