Codema & DCC win at LAMA 2017 Awards

06th February, 2017

We were delighted that Codema and Dublin City Public Libraries scooped the top prize in the Best Energy Smart Initiative category at the LAMA Community & Council Awards 2017 for the Home Energy Saving Kit.

The Home Energy Saving Kit was launched as a pilot scheme in Dublin City Public Libraries in March 2016.   The kits contain 6 practical tools to help you save energy at home and is available for the public to borrow free-of-charge from a selection of Dublin City library branches.  The kit helps you take the first step in becoming more energy efficient by identifying problem areas in your home and helping you make sense of the energy you consume on a daily basis.

The kits have been extremely popular since they were launched, and have been used in over 200 home across Dublin.

On receiving the award, Dublin City Librarian Margaret Hayes said: "“This project represents an innovative contemporary service based on core library principles of sharing community resources to make life better for citizens and communities . Winning the LAMA award is a great endorsement and allows the library service and Codema to spread the message amongst colleagues countrywide.”

Codema's Energy Awareness Manager Verena Brennan added: "We are absolutely thrilled to earn this recognition for the Home Energy Saving Kit and would like to thank Dublin City Public Libraries for their continued support of this scheme.  It is the only initiative of its kind that helps the public to take that all-important first step on their sustainable energy journey.  It also promotes energy awareness locally and encourages the shift in behavioural change that is so desperately needed to improve energy efficiency."

Codema and Dublin City Public Libraries will soon be launching the next phase of the kits in March 2017, where the kits will be available in every library branch across Dublin, so watch this space!
