EPLACE aimed to improve energy efficiency in buildings by increasing understanding of how a building and its occupants use energy using ICT.
Codema’s key role in EPLACE was dissemination, which included publication of articles in specialised press, presentations at events and conferences, and posters. We chose two pilot buildings for this project – Tallaght Library and Finglas Swimming Pool – to audit and review the energy used in these buildings before the technical solutions by Wellness Telecom were introduced.
EPLACE aimed to provide building managers and occupants with a web application to provide not only information about their energy consumption, but also an international web based collaborative platform where practical solutions, partnerships and knowledge exchange can be assessed and tailored specifically to their buildings' energy profile.
Its aim was to test and validate innovative ICT solutions for metering specific energy sources in 7 buildings in 3 countries - Ireland, Spain and Bulgaria. These solutions included:
- WeSave: A smart energy monitoring system
- WeLight: Smart outdoor lighting monitoring and control system
- WeTalk: A collaborative platform and social network
