Home Energy Saving Kits now available in Roscommon & Leitrim Libraries
15th January, 2018
The expansion of the scheme to theses counties was officially launched by the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Denis Naughten TD, on Friday 12th January in the County Library, Roscommon, and was funded through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. The Home Energy Saving Kits are already available in libraries across Dublin City, and have been used in almost 700 homes since the initaitive was piloted in 2016.
Speaking about the Home Energy Saving Kits on the day, the Minister explained:
It's very much a practical kit so that people can take practical steps to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
The Home Energy Saving Kits contain six practical tools to help the public save energy and cut costs, and can be borrowed in the same way you borrow a book or a DVD from your local library, using your library membership card.
The tools address three key areas of energy use in the home - space heating, hot water and electricity consumption - and can identify common issues in homes across Ireland such as lack of insulation, poor ventilation and the appliances that might be driving up electricity bills.
