Fatima Mansions
Fatima Mansions was a flat complex consisting of 363 residential flats and is located in the south west quarter of the city between the canals, close to Rialto and Dolphins Barn and one mile from Christchurch. In 2001, its population of 686 residents (February 2001) occupied 255 of the dwellings while the remaining 108 flats remained unoccupied.
The flats were demolished and replaced by high quality housing. The Regeneration programme provides opportunities for social, affordable, co-operative and private housing in a flexible framework. Approximately 300 homes will be provided for social housing that will be superior in design and quality.
As energy advisor to Dublin City Council, Codema provided an analysis of current energy consumption in the project area. A comparison was made to other cases and to cases where best energy conservation standards have been adhered. Codema also provided recommendations to ensure the scheme complies with best energy conservation practices applicable in Ireland.
