Energy Smart Community Update: New clusters forming this autumn

So far we have helped five communities to become Energy Smart - Drumcondra, Phibsboro, Sutton, Ballinteer and Rathfarnham.

Work for the Phibsboro / Sutton and Ballinteer / Rathfarnham clusters has now gone out to tender to our panel of top-quality contractors and once a contractor has been selected, the work will commence later in the autumn - great news for members of the Energy Smart Community who wil have warmer homes and lower energy bills as a result!

"I was so relieved that all the hassle was removed for me.  The contractor chosen by Codema was very professional; the work was clean and the men were very pleasant."  Philippa Kidd, Drumcondra.

We will be expanding the scheme into more areas in Dublin this autumn, so if you are interested in forming an Energy Smart Community in your area, contact us now on +353 1 707 9818 or email us.  Codema will co-ordinate the entire process from start to finish, including organising meetings in your area free of charge!  All we ask is that you rally up other neighbours in your area who as eager to save energy in the home as you are!

About the scheme

The Energy Smart Community is a not-for-profit scheme which allows you and your neighbours to join together to improve the energy-efficiency of your homes at the best value price.

How does it work?

The Energy Smart Community works on the simple principle that by bringing homeowners together in a cluster, you can save on the cost and hassle of carrying out energy-efficiency improvements on your home.  This is done through a group tender process, which means that our panel of top-quality contractors bid to carry out the work for you and the rest of your community.  The contractor who comes back with the best value price is then selected by us to do the work.

How much does it cost?

Codema offers membership to the Energy Smart Community for €99.  The benefits of joining include:

  • Value for money
  • Independent energy advice
  • We provide you with a contractor who we has been thoroughly vetted to ensure a high quality job
  • We act as facilitator and keep you informed throughout the entire process and answer any questions you might have
  • Social and environmental benefits for your community
