Christmas Greetings from Codema

Codema would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and encourage everyone to continue to 'Switch Off' over the festive period.  Please also ensure that all lights and appliances are properly switched off before you leave the office for the Christmas holidays, in order to avoid any unnecessary use of energy.  The main appliances include computers (including the monitors), photocopiers, printers and any kitchen equipment that can be switched off over the holidays.

With your continued support throughout 2010, we can reduce Dublin's energy consumption even further, resulting in lower carbon emissions and a greener environment for you.

Why not continue the good work at home and have a green Christmas!  The festive period sees a huge rise in domestic waste and energy use; there are a few easy and cost effective ways that you can reduce your carbon footprint:

  • If you are buying new Christmas lights go for an LED low-energy set
  • When buying wrapping paper, try to purchase paper rather than foil, as this is recyclable
  • Purchase the tree from a sustainably managed forest (the tree will be replaced and so will be ‘carbon neutral’).  Coillte will have information on this and how to properly dispose of the tree in January
  • Turn the thermostat down to 21 degrees
  • Timer plugs on Christmas lights ensure that they are only on when you want them
