999 Cities Sign Up to Covenant of Mayors

Codema is delighted to see that the number of cities and towns across Europe that have signed up to the Covenant of Mayors has almost the one thousand mark.

999 cites and towns have now signed up to the Covenant of Mayors, which is a commitment by these signatories to go beyond the objectives of EU energy policy in terms of a reduction in CO2 emissions through enhanced energy efficiency and cleaner energy production and use.

The Covenant of Mayors sets out to go beyond the EU target of a 20 per cent reduction in carbon emissions by 2020.  Dublin City has its own commitment of a 33 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

As Dublin led by example by becoming one of the first cities to sign up to the Covenant of Mayors, Codema is delighted to see the initiative go from strength to strength.
