Home Energy Saving Kit shortlisted in Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards

15th August, 2016

We are delighted to announce that our Home Energy Saving Kit has been shortlisted in the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards 2016.

The Home Energy Saving Kit is shortlisted in the 'Sustainable Environment' category and the overall winners will be revealed at the 2016 ELG awards ceremony on 24th November.

The Home Energy Saving Kit contains 6 practical tools to help people save energy at home, and is available to borrow free of charge from 10 Dublin City libraries, for a period of 2 weeks.  The kit helps people to take the first step in becoming more energy efficient by identifying problem areas in their home and by helping them make sense of the energy they consume on a daily basis. The kit is also accompanied by a step-by-step user manual and demonstration video which easily explain how to use each tool correctly, so it can appeal to homeowners with even the most basic knowledge of energy-saving.

The Home Energy Saving Kit was developed by Codema’s Energy Awareness Manager Verena Brennan, who was inspired by a similar scheme that is running very successfully in South Australian libraries.

This is the first time that such a scheme has been introduced in Ireland, and since their launch into a selection of Dublin City libraries in March 2016, the Home Energy Saving Kits have been extremely successful and in high demand.

We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for the ELG awards ceremony on the 24th!
