GuarantEE partners discussing the EPC Facilitators Network and the EPC Pre-Check Online Tool

24th April, 2017

The 3rd guarantEE project meeting took place in Amsterdam from 10th - 12th April 2017. Located at RAI Amsterdam, the meeting was held as a side event of the 'Building Holland' expo, where project partners were able to learn about sustainable building design and latest products and innovations.

During the project meeting, the guarantee partners learnt about the progress on the Online EPC Pre-Check Tool by Dutch partner Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) as part of Work Package 3. Thomas Piessens of RVO presented the tool and explained how it can be adapted and translated by each project partner.  Progress was also made on the EPC Facilitators Network, which was presented by Irma Thijssen and Selina Roskam, providing project partners with the know-how on setting up facilitators profiles and conducting online discussions on EPC.

Day 2 of the meeting concentrated on implementation of Energy Performance Contracts (WP4) and the Best Practice Database, delivered by Liv R. Lindseth of Norsk Enøk og Energi (NEE). The dissemination of project results was also discussed.
An insight on EPCs in the private sector was delivered by Jan van Hout, director of OVVIA, who spoke about EPC best practice at Witte Dame in Eindhoven and ways of overcoming the split-incentive-dilemma of EPC (see Best practice: The goose that lays the golden egg).

In a celebratory moment, the EPC Facilitators at the meeting signed the self-declaration on quality criteria to be included in the European Facilitator Pool (WP3). Later that day, the project partners visited the Van Gogh Museum to learn about EPC in practice (see Best practice: Van Gogh Museum).

On Wednesday, 12th April the project partners joined the International EPC Facilitator seminar at the RAI Amsterdam with topics including:

  • the role of EPC facilitators
  • EPC facilitator training module
  • best practices on EPCs and EPC Facilitators
  • How to support and stimulate EPCs and EPC facilitators in Europe
  • knowledge exchange and how to deal with barriers.
  • Start of the EU EPC Facilitators Network.
