Codema presents Video about Energy Performance Contracting (EPC)

15th May, 2015

If you work in the energy sector or are involved in the running of a building, you may have heard about Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) but not grasped exactly what it is or how it works in Ireland.

Well, to help you understand the concept better, Codema has produced a live action and animation video which easily explains how the process works step-by-step and outlines the many benefits in choosing the EPC model for upgrading your building.

Energy Performance Contracting is a form of energy building management with guaranteed energy savings, which are delivered by an Energy Service Company (ESCo). While the approach in upgrading buildings is quite new in Ireland, it is a well-established concept in Europe – especially in counties such as Czech Republic, Austria and Germany.

Codema produced this video as part of our involvement in the European Energy Services Initiative 2020 (EESI2020) to promote the concept in Ireland and to gain expertise from senior partners who have a proven track record in the implementing successful EPC projects.

As a result, Codema and Dublin City Council have now started the EPC process for three leisure centres - Ballymun, Finglas and Markievicz Sports and Fitness Centre. The work will be carried out in in the most cost-effective manner possible, while also enabling each building to become more energy-efficient and help the council to meet public sector energy targets.
